Got a sunny day here, decided to wash, clay bar, and wax a couple lovely ladies. GL is my parents, since I'm at their place for the weekend.

Nice job from what I can tell from the hazy pic. From the thumbnail, I thought that was an Explorer.

Ah well, while you are washing and waxing some ladies . . . feels like I'm as covered in salt and ice as the cars are.

I drove the Lexus variant of that gen. Land Cruiser. I was wondering what's the difference between the two..

the Lexus costs about $10K more, has an air adjustable suspension that can change hight, slightly better trimming around the dash and that is about it. Oddly enough, even though the Lexus cost more, the Toyota version has a higher value on today's market.

I'm not sure what it is about older Land Cruisers. They just look so ... correct. As if they were simply willed into existence by humanity's collective perception of what a 4x4 looks like.

Haha, Excuse the iPotato 5s picture! Did you know that made the pixels bigger so you get a better photograph....would I sound more believable if you imagined me having an english accent?

The Type 100 is, in my opinion, the culmination of luxury and off roadability. I don't know what it is, but that thing goes like a tank in the snow or whatever you throw at it. Way more than any 4x4, Truck, Jeep. Nothing compares.

I'm going to find me a drink that includes Ice and Salt now.

I am very jealous

Well, which would you pick? The Lexus or the LC?

I hear that the suspension is the weak point w/ the Lexus. I would choose the LC, but I'm a little biased. If you are looking for one, I think it was in '03 (my year) that they switched to a 4 bolt front end vs a 2 bolt. Apparently the 2 bolts failed. If you take care of your LC, it will take care of you. Mine has over 225k on the clock, and i've never had a major component fail on me. I've replaced the timing belt and a gas shock in the rear lift gate and I think that is it. I've also had it touched up were it was rusting at the rear gate.

Diggin' the hundo, I get jealous from time to time when I see once because it sure would be nice to have the power and a little more smoothness. Oh well, Ill make due somehow...

What engine is in the X164?

It is the 450. They were going to go w/ the diesel, but they didn't like the fact that there was no spare tire, urea tank instead.

You're a very nice son (or daughter, idk, don't want to assume) to wash your parent's car! I like your Cruiser, by the way.

If you want to put bigger tires on it and have it more off road, the 80 is the way to go. I take mine to my fishing/rafting spots but spend most of the time on road...that is where the 100 is better.

Haha, there is NOTHING to do here. decided to polish 'em all up. I was thinking about heading down to the creek to get a little fly fishing in, but I don't want to get the LC dirty now.

I definitely understand your pain! I was bored as ever last night so I pulled the Subie into the garage and checked brakes, oil, vacuumed the interior, blah, blah, blah, etc. I get bored and screw with my cars haha

there is truth there, I DD mine and its not bad really, but the 100 would be better in that regard.

How do your parents like the GL? I know the early models were apparently really problematic but my parents are actually interested in picking one up. Also, is it a GL450/550 or the blue tec?

350 owner here, and it's my track rat hauler. I am currently in the process of fabricating a roof mounted spare tire rack, as I don't believe run-flats will do me any good if something happens on the trails or the freeway / this solution is aesthetically displeasing IMO.

Oh man that is ugly. that is another reason they didn't want the 35o. They didn't want the run flats.

They seem to like it. I think they have about 35K on the clock and no problems. They went w/ the 450. The 350 had run flats and no spare tire (urea tank). Dad was sold on the diesel till he found that out. He still gets about 19 mpgs highway going about 75 down the interstate, not TOO bad.
